The area

Seuilly is a village of the Chinon area, between the Loire and the Vienne, where Rabelais was born: his house, La Devinière, now a museum, faces the château. Ten minutes away, Chinon, a town of art and history, its royal fortress, its Thursday market on place Jeanne-d'Arc and its boat trips on the Vienne. And around you, the châteaux of the Loire: Ussé, Azay-le-Rideau, Villandry.

How much does a wedding at Château du Coudray Montpensier cost?

From €52,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. The exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you get it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once you agree, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, or something you add along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can't make it?

We replace them. They're our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd's. It covers cancelling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can't be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a beautiful house. The château rents you the Salle des Écuries and its 45 beds, its furniture and kitchen, and opens its address book. You then bring together the caterer, the drinks, the decor, the flowers, the music and the marquee. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 180 at table in the Salle des Écuries, and up to 350 with the 240 m² marquee in the garden. 45 of you sleep on site. From a dinner for a few dozen to the big party, there is a room for every size.

Which dates are still free?

Tell us your date, we check with the château and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes, outdoors in the French gardens: in the cypress alley facing the towers, or between the boxwood parterres. You choose who marries you, in English, French or both, and what gets said, with the château behind you in every photo.

Can we have our civil wedding in Seuilly?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Seuilly town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are coming from far away. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Tours airport is 50 minutes away, Chinon station 8 km, and the château 10 minutes from Chinon. 45 of them sleep on site, and for the others we share the best addresses in Chinon.

Coming from abroad: how does it work?

Your contract is governed by French law, and also written in English.

How late can the party go on?

The château's listing mentions no time limit for the event. The party carries on in the Salle des Écuries, and 45 of your guests sleep right above it. We confirm the exact hours with the château for your date.

Where do we get ready?

In a suite in the château's lodges, up to 110 m², with a king-size bed, a dressing table, bathrobes, and in some a bathtub under the old beams. Your closest friends get ready in the suites next door, booked directly with the château.

Can we serve the estate's own wine?

Yes, and it's one of the joys of the place: the estate has 34 hectares of vines in AOC Chinon, and its wines also include a Vouvray, a crémant de Loire and a Cheverny. They are offered for pairing with the menu of your wedding.

Will our grandparents manage easily?

Yes. 70 parking spaces wait on site, there is an accessible bedroom, and a dormitory for the children above the Salle des Écuries, so the whole family stays together.
