The area

Saint-Georges-sur-Loire is an Anjou village on the north bank of the Loire, its town hall set in a 12th-century abbey. For those who arrive early: the Château de Serrant and its 12,000-book library in the same commune, the chenin vines of Savennières, the Wednesday morning market, and the Loire à Vélo cycle route a few kilometres away.

How much does a wedding at Château de l'Épinay cost?

From €58,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. The exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you get it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once you agree, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, or something you add along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can't make it?

We replace them. They're our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd's. It covers cancelling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can't be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a beautiful house. The château rents you its estate, its reception hall with tables and chairs, and its 27 bedrooms. You then bring together the caterer and the drinks, the decor and the flowers, the music and the photographer. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 110 at table in the 15th-century stone hall, and up to 200 for drinks. 70 of you can sleep at the château. From the family weekend for 70 to the long table along the facade, the estate keeps up.

Which dates are still free?

Tell us your date, we check with the château and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes: by the pond, with the château reflected in the water, in front of the green facade, or on the terrace of the French garden. You choose who marries you, in English, French or both, and what gets said.

Can we have our civil wedding in Saint-Georges-sur-Loire?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Saint-Georges-sur-Loire's, set in a former abbey, can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are flying in. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Angers Saint-Laud station is 20 to 30 minutes away and 1 h 30 from Paris by TGV, Nantes airport 50 minutes, Angers airport 35. 70 of them sleep at the château, and the château can book their taxi from the station.

How late can we party?

The party carries on in the stone hall, and 70 of your people go up to bed on the estate. The château's own listing sets no time limit; we confirm the house rules for the music in writing with your price.

Coming from abroad: how does it work?

Your contract is governed by French law, and also written in English.

Where do we get ready?

In a large bedroom of the old manor house, 35 m² with a working fireplace, a bathtub in the old style and a view over the French garden. Or in the 50 m² suite and its two bedrooms, to get ready each on your own side.

Will our grandparents manage easily?

Yes. The reception hall is accessible, a ground-floor bedroom is adapted for reduced mobility, and parking is free on site, with luggage dropped right at the door. The children have a grotto, a swing and hammocks in the park.

What is the Boire?

An old arm of the Loire, 3 km long, running along the park. Swans and wild ducks on the water, bald cypresses on the banks. The day after, your guests take a canoe down it, straight from the château.
