The area

The château sits on the edge of Carpentras, the old capital of the Comtat, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. Carpentras holds its big market on Friday mornings. For the guests who come early: a walk or a tasting in the Dentelles, 35 minutes away, or the antique dealers of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, 35 minutes too.

Who is Fervenza?

Fervenza is a French company for all-inclusive weddings. With Émilie and the whole team, we're already planning weddings for 2027 and 2028.

How much does a wedding at Château Martinay cost?

From €125,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. Your exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you have it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once you agree, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, or something you add along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can't make it?

We replace them. They're our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd's. It covers cancelling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can't be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a lovely house. The château rents you its spaces, its gardens and its 24 beds. You then bring together the caterer, the furniture, the flowers, the decor, the music, the photographer, and the wedding planner the château asks for. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 120 for dinner outdoors: about 100 around the fountain in the main courtyard, 120 in the south courtyard, and 100 inside in the salons. At 34 or fewer, everyone sleeps on site: 24 at the château, 10 at the Bastide next door. Beyond that, your other guests stay in Carpentras, 7 minutes away.

Which dates are still free?

The château hosts twelve weddings a year, no more, so every date counts. Tell us yours, we check with Château Martinay and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes, in the cypress avenue, in the heart of the park, in the shade of the tall trees. A religious ceremony with your own celebrant works there too. Your words, your officiant, your people around you.

Can we have our civil wedding in Carpentras?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Carpentras town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are flying in. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Avignon TGV station is 35 minutes away, Paris is 2 h 40 from Avignon by TGV, Avignon airport is 33 minutes away and Marseille airport 1 h 25. And 24 of your guests sleep at the château.

How do our guests get back after the party?

24 of them only have the courtyard to cross, 10 more walk to the Bastide a few steps away. For the others, staying in Carpentras 7 minutes away or around L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, we give you the addresses, ready to share with your loved ones.

Where do we get ready?

At the château. One of you in the couple's suite on the ground floor, looking onto the courtyard and its fountain. The other in the Loft, with its private terrace above the courtyard, your people close by.

Can we choose our wines?

Yes, from the cellar of Château Malijay, the owners' estate close by: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Côtes du Rhône, Ventoux. The château serves its family's wines at weddings, with 20 % off the whole order, and we taste them with you at the estate.

And if it rains?

Dinner moves into the château's salons, which seat up to 100, and the dancing is there already. Above 100 guests, or to keep the ceremony outdoors, a marquee goes up in the park: we plan it with the château, and you see it before you sign.

Children, grandparents, the dog: is everyone welcome?

Yes. The château welcomes children and dogs, and everyone parks on site. The courtyard and the paths are gravel: we slip 'block heels' into the note to your guests, and keep chairs in the shade for the grandparents.
