  • A French company, licensed for live events Your contract is governed by French law, and written in English too

How much does a wedding at Château de Candes cost?

From €48,000, all-inclusive, for about 100 guests: the venue, the table, the flowers, the music, your photos, and us on site. The exact price depends on your date and your guest count, and you get it in writing within a week.

Can the price change?

Once you agree, no. It only changes if you change the wedding: more or fewer guests, or something you add along the way.

What if one of our suppliers can't make it?

We replace them. They're our suppliers, under our contract, so the two of you have nothing to search for or renegotiate. You approve the choice, and we take care of the rest.

Can we insure our wedding?

Yes, if you wish. We can offer optional cancellation insurance dedicated to your wedding, placed with Lloyd's. It covers cancelling or postponing for reasons beyond your control, including if one of you can't be there, as set out in the policy terms.

What if we booked the château directly?

You can, it's a beautiful house. The château rents you its rooms, its tower and its reception halls, and opens its address book. You then bring together the caterer, the tables and chairs, the tableware, the decor, the sound and the lighting. With us, all of that is in your price, every choice stays yours, and the château keeps its own rate. You come to get married.

How many guests can we invite?

Up to 100 at table in the Pressoir, with drinks on the terrace facing the Loire. Up to 90 of your guests sleep on the estate.

Which dates are still free?

Tell us your date, we check with Château de Candes and reply in writing.

Can we have a secular ceremony on site?

Yes, the estate welcomes them, and we pick the spot together during the visit. For a church wedding, the collegiate church of Saint-Martin is right next to the château. Your words, your officiant, your people around you.

Can we have our civil wedding in Candes-Saint-Martin?

In France, a civil wedding always takes place at a town hall, never at the château. Candes-Saint-Martin town hall can marry you if one of you, or one of your parents, lives there or has lived there for at least a month. Otherwise, the civil wedding happens in your own town, and the ceremony at the château.

Our guests are flying in. Is it easy for them?

Yes: Saumur is 15 minutes away, Tours Val de Loire airport an hour, Nantes airport two. The château books taxis and transfers, and up to 90 of your guests sleep on site.

How do our guests get back after the party?

Most of them on foot: up to 90 sleep in the château, its tower and the estate's houses, a few minutes away. For the others, sleeping in Montsoreau or Saumur, the château books the taxis, so everyone can toast without thinking about the car.

Where do we get ready?

At the château. One of you in the bridal suite, your people in the rooms next door. The other in the 15th-century tower, with its two round rooms looking out over the Loire.

And if it rains?

Dinner and the party are indoors anyway, in the Pressoir and then the troglodyte rooms. For drinks, a tent can go up in the main courtyard, as it did for a September wedding at the château.

Are children welcome?

Yes. Cots are lent free of charge, and the park has a play area. For the under-tens, the château asks for one babysitter for every seven children: we sort it out together.

What is the Street Art Parc?

The château's 5-hectare park of hundred-year-old yews, cedars and larches, with around sixty works by street artists among the trees. It opens to visitors by day from April to December, and lights up every evening for those sleeping on the estate.

Coming from abroad: how does it work?

Your contract is governed by French law, and also written in English.
